It's About Time...!!
We've owned this domain name (fedup.com) for about 8 years now - long before political blogs were so popular and mainstream. We even tried starting a blog about 7 years ago but, it seemed as though the general population wasn't as pissed off as we were about the way things were and where we were headed. So, we went about our lives and figured we'd "get over it." Unfortunately, we didn't "get over it." It seems that everyone else is beginning to get as pissed as we were. So, we've decided to join the party. Our domain name tells it about as succinctly as it can be said. We have no doubt that, if you're reading this post, you're just about as pissed as we are. So, let's go! We'll try to add to this blog every day (several times a day, in fact) and we hope you drop by to see what we've got to say - and add to it when you feel moved to do so.
By way of introduction, my name is Ron and my wife's name is Shirley. And while we're mightily pissed off about several things, the main focus of this blog is a government that once was "of the people, by the people, for the people" has become one that is bought and paid for corporate interests and the wealthy. We firmly believe that if the citizens of this great country don't step up and force some serious changes, this country is going to hell in a handbasket! The idiot politicians that run this country are so damned short-sighted and greedy that they don't realize they are taking us down a path to third-world status. They are obviously not going to make the necessary changes - I don't care if they are republican or democrat - the fact is that the only consideration most of them have is "how am I going to get enough money to get re-elected!"
We're all going to have to take some responsibility toward changing things. This blog is going to be our small contribution to that effort. We hope that you will read our words and thoughts and join in the fray! It's going to take all of us to make the necessary changes to put this country back on the path it once so steadfastly followed - to become a beacon of freedom and fairness and equality that can be admired and respected by the whole world.

I,too am fed up with the government, and for many reasons. I just sent out a provoking email to around 100 people. I have proposed to build a website, quickly, and was going to title it "FedUp" I read what you wrote, and agree wholeheartedly. I want to make a difference. The war in Iraq (I am a Vietnam vet) is unwinnable, just as Nam was, because the average Iraqi soldier will not fight near as hard as the zealots. Just as the South Vietnamese would not fight like the North. We became, as the soldiers in Iraq became, the buffer between conflicting very old and strong ideas, and died in the process. We cannot rebuild New Orleans, yet the government paid 950,000 dollars for shipping costs for two (2) washers. The kind you put under bolts. (Associated press) We cannot control our borders, we have shrunk to controlling the toothpaste tube size for airport security, and we are terrorizing our own citizens. Our criminal justice system is about money, the jails have more prisoners than China, (fact) and one man can get 25 years for a stolen twinkie, and another 6 months, each with the same background. We can't control our borders, Canadian or Mexican, and we can't figure out if a bridge is unsafe. And the idiot Congress and brainless Bush are on vacation while miners die trying to rescue their friends.......Steve Keese

Just like Steve Keese, I checked fedup.com to see if I could do the same thing you are doing. A Nam vet, DAV member and one who tried to clean up local government, I learned the hard way how close we are to losing this once great country.
As you show, our elected officials seem to be interested only in $, to the real and obvious cost of US citizens.
My idea was to create petitions for each government area the people felt needed attention: (1) term limits for congress and senate; (2) congress and senate pay is automatically 90%ile of US citizens income; (3) all security checks, travel tickets and police checks include citizenship status with illegal aliens detained for the INS; (4) etc. Concerned people go to a page showing each petition with description and can sign if they want. They can also request new petitions and/or can suggest a change to and existing one.
I'm glad to know others care. We need to correct the system legally, both by exposing the corruption and suggesting real solutions.
Sincerely,
David

I agree! It's time people speak out. It's time for a new party, a labor party, made up of people who actually work. The rich are not needed, the poor are not needed. The working are all that is needed. How else will we protect what we earn?

Ron and Shirley,
I don't know if this site is still up and running, but I wanted to thank you for your efforts. Myself and a friend of mine were just talking about this same issue just a couple of days ago which prompted me to check out to see if anyone else had the same feelings. Obviously there is! I can't quote instances right off the top of my head of why I am "FED UP", but I know I am sickened at what I see happening in this country. Your ideas seem to mirror what my friend and I were discussing.... I believe we are soon to be a two class country.... the High class (big money) and the lower class (no money. The politicians are raping the middle class. And they even know that we are the backbone of this nation! They just don't care! Greed is the cause. Whether it is for power or money (which go hand in hand)the leaders of this country are much more interested in how much they can get instead of what they can do to preserve our constitution and our way of life.
Now to the question of WHAT CAN WE DO? As my friend and I discussed, this would take an undertaking that could not be accomplished by just a few people. This would take a grass root effort of enormous magnitude! I see that you have at least made the effort to try and educate people to the ills that are before our country. I also see that the obvious lack of interest is prevailing because of the few comments on this site! I am totally inept when it comes to providing an answer to "WHAT CAN WE DO?" I would love to see more of your ideas and comments and am going to spread your website to everyone I know. Thanks again for your efforts!

I truly hope you can get the support that is necessary to make a difference. I see our state selling off tollways, parking lots, and everything else this isn't tied down, to get money in their private coffers. Inflation is out of control, because these greedy people heading our county are letting petroleum rule, which puts money into their own pockets. When was the last time our salaries have gone up at the rate government heads salaries have gone up. The blame is to lay off the little guy, and keep money flowing to themselves and their friends.
No government has lasted more than 200 years. The Roman Empire is a prime example, as the rulers take more and more, the destruction of the whole economy will take place right behind it. Our President doesn't care, nor do our state leaders. They fill their pockets at our expense, and it must stop. Why did Greenspan quit, he saw it coming, and he raked in all he could before stepping down. Senators are quiting before their term has ended. Why? They stole and sold off as much of our country as they can, as Dick Chaney has done with all his friends. It isn't republican or democrate. It is thrives who don't want to preserve what this country has given all of us.
Why would anybody with half a brain spend multi millions of dollars, to get a $150,000 a year with expenses. I sure wouldn't unless I knew there was a golden parachute attached, and a pension, that sure won't match my social security. Mad isn't the word for it. I hope your blog catches on, and people start standing up for our country, and what we and our forefathers fought for. We need your help, in letting these thrives and liars know their day is coming where they are true public servants, which was the original job, not a job to steal and sell us down road. We have become so dependent on outside countries for everything, and sold our manufacturing off to where ever, trust me, any of these countries could close us down in a minute, because we don't have any power any more. We sold all the important things off, and now we are dependent on everyone else. How sad for our children, that are in every speech, but will have nothing to look forward too.

This site is exactly what I want to see. The common citizen in this country could not be more disenfranchised from the modern political process because the America's Political process sucks. It is almost a complete failure to espouse and operate by the methods and processes set forth by our forefathers. As I continue to withdraw from the political scene in this country, I started to wonder about the state of affairs surrounding the birth of this country. When composing the Declaration of Independence, our forefathers were grappling with major problems with the "Establishment" much like we are today. And the 2nd paragraph really hits home when taken in the context of 2008:
We hold these Truths to be Self-Evident that all me are created equal, that they are endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness- ( here's the part I believe should really stir our modern day political pot)-That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just power from the Consent of the Governed, that whenever any form of Government becomes destructive of these Ends, it is the Right of the People to Alter or to Abolish it, and to Institute new Government, laying its Foundation on such Principles, and organizing its Powers in such Form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness."
A mouthful to say the least, but a more fitting passage is difficult to find as it relates to the beaten down state of mos modern day Citizens of this great NAtion. The main questions that is most likely bouncing around the brains of anyone who reads that passage is:
"Have we not reached the point where we should have a 2nd declaration of Independence?"
Does anyone feel that this government and the system from which it was spawned has Joe Citizens best interest(safety, happiness life liberty) in mind?
Joe -citizen has lost all faith in the system. Cant look into a modern day Pols eyes and garner even a smallest amount of faith that the person will not be corrupt. It's now at the point where we measure Pols by the level of corruptness-as if to say, his or her crimes were less deplorable than the other guys, so it's kind of ok?!?!?!
What in the fu%@#$ng world has happened here? No one believes a freakin word any of them have to say.
Indeed, many have simply "checked out" surmising that the sun will rise, the sun will fall, and Politicians will be corrupt. Powerless to change anything is how the vast majority feel.
That is why we must come together as a country of Joe-Citizens and make them hear us. Term limits for all-No Matter what. Anyone who has been in the legislature for more that 6 years is immediately terminated. End of Political career. Fund-Raising: turn the entire process upside-down-shake out all of the lobbyists and special interests and throw em in the slammer, then devise a system that works.
You're doing God's work-Keep it up
Glen

I think Ron Paul was our last hope to wipe out the FED and the CIA. And everything that is trying to destroy our great constitution. We the people and what we face over just the next five to six years will be unlike anything our fathers have seen. Now that the Jewish controlled media and everything they moved into has shown us that like hitler if we don't go after Iran"Their Enemies" we will face a full recession. It is a Simple plan they have laid out. Our children will go to war for a very long time for a people who never cared about anyone but themselves and their blood line. The Bible says in the last days the hole world will be after Jewish people and I think if the truth about 9/11 and Iran and how they boch our system to push us into fighting them, is all out in the open one day then yes everyone will as it says in the bible be out to destroy them as a tribe lets say . You reap what you soe. And Nothing is gonna stop this event. As long as this mentality exist,me me me me ! May god forgive them for what they have done. And the constitution they treat like a contract that they say is open to change like any other contract. May God give us strength through this event.

Thank God, The starting of the movment of the masses. I"m in. My huband an I own a alternative building business in wonderful N.M. We pay All required taxes including those for employees. We started with no loans and about $500 to our name. We have made it our first year but not with out battles. We have two great kids 6 and 11. We started it for them, around soccer, drama, school stuff ect.. We get no assistance from the government what so ever. My son fell out of a tree and broke his arm this past summer, we are still making payments. So naturally I apply for State medicade insurance nothing more.Denied! What? Denied! What? on and on fighting for insurance for my children. Denied for being business owners. Never mind the matter that we pay an u mph amount of taxes every month. We are still under poverty level. Fighting is what I did and now they magically approved us. We work very hard physically and always towards the right thing. We try to promot selfsastainability. They want to try take that away too. POWER TO US WORKING PEOPLE. The list goes on and on but we'll discuss the topics later. thanks for letting me rant.

Like many Americans I too am fed up with our corrupt inept government. Look at the folly going on now between the presidential canadiates. That is the best this corrupt government can offer us to run our country. I would rather have 2 crack heads than what we are now facing for our new leader.

The provision of the Constitution giving the war-making power to Congress was dictated, as I understand it, by the following reasons. Kings had always been involving and impoverishing their people in wars, pretending generally, if not always, that the good of the people was the object. This, our Convention understood to be the most oppressive of all Kingly oppressions; and they resolved to so frame the Constitution that no one man should hold the power of bringing this oppression upon us.
Abraham Lincoln
16th president of US (1809 - 1865)
Our country has been let down by every branch of government these last seven years. We have got to wake up and help to bring about the changes that are needed. Starting with term limits and getting rid of the electorate college.
